Saturday night at La Ronde, not only Lucy was in the Sky. All the members of the Beatles were! L’International des Feux Loto-Québec was paying a tribute to the Fab-Four as part of its closing ceremony. Just before the Gold Jupiter Prize was given to Italy.
We were given a 30-minute fireworks display featuring many hits by John, Paul, Ringo and George. During this pyrotechnical experience, time seemed to fly even faster than when you listen to the Beatles music.
Divided into four parts, each one representing one of the four musicians, the show was rather efficient and cool to watch even though the action above was at some point irregular. Repeated patterns four or five times could have been avoided.
But anyway, listening to Yesterday, I Am the Walrus, Blackbird and While My Guitar Gently Weeps with fireworks is a blast! After one bar of each song I inevitably caught myself moving my head to the rhythm of the music.
The organizers stated 300,000 people have been attending this event. I believe them. After the show I tried to get into the metro Station Jean Drapeau… well, I didn’t even reach the entrance of it, too many people were waiting there. I decided to get a Bixi bike and that was a really better idea. A very relaxing 35 minute-ride into the dark Montréal, along the river…
Before falling asleep, I kept seeing fireworks in my head and a Monster… Because of a wooden roller-coaster of La Ronde I went to, before the show… The kid in me couldn’t resisted it.
