Among the many things to do in a year, some are cooler than others. Being a reporter in a music festival is one of the best things of my year. Yesterday was launch the 44th edition of Festival d’été de Québec, a musical reunion that will last 11 musical days. I will report for the blog of MSN Vivre dans la nuit.
Like every year a the festival started with a show making a bridge between France and Québec. Francis Cabrel, Robert Charlebois, Grand Corps Malade, Coeur de pirate were part of the show. Nearly three hours of songs from both countries. It was fun, even though sometimes I nearly fell asleep (too many soft songs) and the jet lag between Montreal and Quebec City is pretty tough too.
But the best is to come. This editions holds sexy promises. Metallica, Elton John, Ben Harper, Black Keys, Buddy Guy, Girl Talk, Melissa Auf der Mar… So many bands and only two ears…
1.5 million festival-goers are expected, They will choose between twelve indoor and outdoor venues. The festival announced more than 1,000 artists and close to 300 shows. Many style Rock, French song, hip-hop, electro, jazz, classical music and world music greats.
In addition, the Festival of Quebec is in… drum roll… Quebec! Which is an incredible city with a human size, which I adore. La Grande Allée and Saint-Jean streets hold bars full of happiness and nice people… and some good local beer too. It’s a start, let’s do it!
